In Malaysia, prostate cancer is the third most common cancer. It most commonly occurs in men aged>50 or older.

The risk of prostate cancer progression and the incidence of prostate cancer may be decreased with good nutrition. A balanced diet, when combined with your current treatment, can help improve your prostate cancer outlook.

Incorporating these 3 foods to support your prostate health.

 1. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are high in lycopene, which promotes prostate health. Lycopene has been shown to reduce cell damage and slow cancer cell production. It is an antioxidant, which means that it guards against cell damage.

According to World Cancer Research International, men who consumed canned and cooked tomatoes five to six times per week, had a 28% lower risk of prostate cancer than men who never consumed this food.

As usual, more research is needed.

2. Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables

Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables like bak choy and cauliflower. These vegetables are high in glucoraphanin. They help rid the body of cancer-causing toxins, disrupt pathways that cause inflammation, and act as antioxidants to protect cells and DNA from free radical damage.

Try eating a serving a day for maximum benefit!

3. Legumes and soybeans

Soy is a type of food that has numerous health benefits. It is also one of the few plant-based complete proteins, making i a viable substitute for meat. In some studies, soy consumption has been linked to the lower incidence of prostate cancers seen in Asians.

Some studies even showed that soy consumption produced an estimate of a 30% reduction in prostate cancer risk. But of course, more research is required.

Try to incorporate more soy in your cooking.

Conclusion:

While eating a nutrient-dense diet rich in fruits and vegetables may help reduce the risk of disease progression, it cannot replace medication or medical treatments. Regular medical care is required to effectively treat the disease and prevent its recurrence.
